Adirondack Canoe Classic
The Adirondack Canoe Classic — known as the 90-Miler — is an Adirondack tradition that dates back over three decades. The annual event, which takes place over three days on the weekend after Labor Day, takes paddlers from Old Forge, NY to Saranac Lake, NY, the first 90 miles of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Save the date for 2025: Sept. 5-7!
Adirondack Paddling Symposium
A comprehensive weekend of paddling instruction for paddlers offering beginner and intermediate course tracks for kayaks, pack boats, SUPs and canoes. Next year’s Symposium is set for June 13-16.

Adirondack Youth Paddling Symposium
In 2024, the NFCT and its partners in the Adirondacks are pleased to present the first ever Youth Paddling Symposium, four days of introductory paddling and camping instruction for youth age 8-15. The 2025 Youth Paddling Symposium is tentatively scheduled for July 14-17 at the Paul Smith’s College Alumni Campground.
Boat Raffles
Every year, the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s partners donate boats to our online raffles, proceeds from which support our stewardship and programming.
Community Paddles
The NFCT coordinates with local paddlers to organize community paddles on and near the canoe trail. We have begun scheduling 2024 Community Paddles! Click the link below to learn more and mark your calendar.
Freshet Film Fest
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail teams up with local partners across the Northeast to offer film festivals. We will announce 2025 film fest dates in February 2025.
Long Lake Long Boat Regatta
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail closes out its Adirondack Race Series by partnering with Long Lake Recreation and Tourism to host the Long Lake Long Boat Regatta each year on the last Saturday in September. Next year’s Regatta is set for Sept. 20.
Missisquoi Paddle-Pedal
The Missisquoi Paddle-Pedal combines 6.5 miles of paddling down the Missisquoi River and 5 miles of cycling on the adjacent Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail. Food, music and an awards ceremony finish the day at Davis Park in Richford, Vermont. 2025’s event is set for July 12!
Online Auction
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s annual online auction takes place the last two weeks of November. Find great deals on outdoor gear, regional adventures, books and services. Your participation supports our mission. This year’s online auction runs from Nov. 15 to Dec. 1!
Rangeley Oquossoc Adventure Rendezvous
The Rangeley Oquossoc Adventure Rendezvous showcases the landscapes of Richardson, Mooselookmeguntic and Rangeley lakes. Save the date for 2025: June 20-22!
‘Round the Mountain Canoe & Kayak Race/’Round the Mountain Weekend
The ‘Round the Mountain Canoe & Kayak Race is an Adirondack favorite, taking place annually on the second Saturday of May — the unofficial kickoff event of the Adirondack paddling season. Next year’s RTM is set for May 10.
Virtual Speakers Series
Occasionally, we host virtual sessions highlighting trips, experiences, stewardship work and much more. These events are scheduled throughout the year; check back regularly for the latest installments. Waterway Work Trips
Get your hands dirty, support the trail and meet people with similar interests. Join us for a weekend working with staff and interns improving portage trails and campsites, building access points or installing safety signage. Meet like minded paddlers. And we always make time for paddling.
