Interns 2008

NFCT Summer Interns

The Stewardship Interns have a rest on some of their handiwork (Vermont).

NFCT's 2008 Interns were a fantastic force!  On the Trail and in the office, they worked hard, learned a lot, kept smiling (even as the rain kept falling), and played a key role in our busy and successful summer.  An enormous thank you to this year's fearless five: Stewardship Interns Ian Baxter, Jessy Fefer, and Mike Mainer; Program Intern Jen Hushaw (aka JJ); Youth Intern Travis Quetel.

And a big-as-our-trail thank you to the Quimby Family Foundation for funding our Stewardship and Program Interns, and to the Horizon Foundation for funding our Youth Intern.

Good food and a beautiful setting.  Who could ask for anything more? (Maine)

The interns earned their good meals and moments of rest!  (Vermont)

We mean it.  They REALLY earned their keep, each and every day. (New York).  If you need some stats to back this up:
  •  3 interns, 6 weeks of work
  • 20 trees planted to stabilize stream banks
  • 3 campsites built, including picnic tables, outhouse facilities, and register boxes
  • 1 paddler access installed
  • 2 portage trails constructed
  • 4 volunteer work trips organized and led, one in each Trail state:  New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, JJ kept us organized, in order, and in good cheer.

And Youth Intern Travis demonstrated the qualities that made him a favorite with the youngsters....
