The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) seeks a creative, talented, and energetic individual to join our team as we expand our community outreach programming. The NFCT water trail route extends from the Adirondacks to Northern Maine, and our vision is equally expansive, encompassing recreation, heritage, tourism, grassroots engagement, and a regional perspective. The Program Director, a new position at NFCT, will be responsible for administering NFCT's community outreach programs, which include both tourism development and youth programming linked to our route, and for coordinating NFCT's communications. The ideal applicant will bring successful experience collaborating with a variety of partners around shared outcomes, a passion for bringing people together to create and deliver successful programs, and a commitment to high quality communication and reliable follow-through both within NFCT and beyond. Experience in program development / management, strong communications skills, and a willingness to travel within the region are required. Undergraduate or master's degree in related field preferred. This is a full time equivalent position with benefits; reports to NFCT's Executive Director. Position is based in NFCT's Waitsfield, Vermont office. The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) seeks a creative, talented, and energetic individual to lead our team in the development and stewardship of our 740-mile water trail. The NFCT route extends from the Adirondacks to Northern Maine, and our vision is equally expansive, encompassing recreation, heritage, tourism, grassroots engagement, and a regional perspective. The Trail Director will be responsible for all aspects of Trail management, including trail maintenance and development; volunteer, intern, and adopter coordination; funding development to support trail projects; and representation of the trail at regional and national trail forums. The ideal applicant will bring successful experience managing the mechanics of trail projects, an understanding of working both within an organization and with a range of external partners to accomplish on the ground results, an ability to effectively structure the ongoing vitality of a nationally-recognized recreational resource, and a passion for excellence. Experience with trails and volunteer management is required, as is a willingness to travel within the region. Relevant undergraduate or master's degree preferred. This is a full time equivalent position with benefits; reports to NFCT's Executive Director. Position based in NFCT's Waitsfield, Vermont office.
